Sakshi Shinde

Sakshi grew up in difficult circumstances but found her footing at Sumati Balwan, eventually becoming a role model for younger students and earning a scholarship to pursue higher education.

Early Days

Sakshi joined Sumati Balwan in the 3rd grade, shy and withdrawn after years of instability at home. The school's emphasis on learning through play and open outdoor spaces gave her a safe place to open up. Within a year, her teachers noticed a curious, confident child beginning to emerge.

Finding Her Voice

The Turning Point

In 7th grade, Sakshi enrolled in a public-speaking workshop run by a visiting mentor. She won the inter-school debate competition the following semester — the first student from Sumati Balwan to do so. That moment, she later said, was when she understood that her voice had power.

Life Today

Sakshi completed her 10th grade with distinction and secured a government scholarship to pursue a diploma in computer applications. She now mentors junior students at the school on weekends, giving back to the community that shaped her.
